Event Details
The workshop will contain slides, discussion, and hands-on activities on the topic of air quality and our health. We'll learn how it's measured, how it impacts our health, and what we can do to keep ourselves, our homes and our communities healthy. We'll also learn about the air quality monitoring system installed throughout Massachusetts that allows local residents to view real-time air quality data and use it to take appropriate actions when necessary.
The Healthy Air Network is a collaboration of organizations focused on air quality and our health throughout Massachusetts. Partners include the Hitchcock Center for the Environment, Millers River Education Center, Seeds of Solidarity Education Center, North Quabbin Public Health Collaborative, Public Health Institute of Western Mass, and Yale School of Public Health.
The workshop will be presented by Chrissy Larson, a Senior Environmental Educator at the Hitchcock Center for the Environment. She has a Masters Degree in Environmental Education and Early Childhood, and did graduate research comparing outdoor structured and unstructured play. Chrissy has been working in the field of Outdoor Education since 1997 and has had numerous roles throughout the years. Her role at the Hitchcock Center mainly focuses on nature connection with ages 0-5, supporting youth climate initiatives, and supporting an expansion of the Healthy Air Network in the North Quabbin.
