Join us for a special “doors open” style tour on Saturday, May 20 to explore new and familiar food and farm venues around the North Quabbin.
This self-guided regional tour is organized in conjunction with the “Crossroads: Rural Change in America” exhibit at Athol Public Library between May 14 and June 23. It’s a chance to visit some special places in our area and talk with local farmers and others - What does it take to sustain a food business over time? How are we building toward the future?
Most of the venues are also open at other times, but here’s the schedule for the specific times when someone will be at each location to talk with visitors about their businesses:
10 am - 12 pm
12 pm - 2 pm
- Petersham Country Store
- Diemand Farm, Wendell (also holding their annual Craft Fair)
- Jared Duval/Coolidge Hill Farm (the farm is in New Salem, Jared will be at Quabbin Harvest in Orange)
2 pm - 4 pm
The May 20 tour is organized by volunteers from Quabbin Food Connector and supported by the Local Cultural Councils of Athol, New Salem, Orange, Petersham, Phillipston, Warwick, and Wendell, local agencies funded by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Crossroads is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and state humanities councils nationwide. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress. The exhibit is free and open to the public and can be viewed any time the library is open.
