A one hour slideshow talk on women in film throughout the 20th century. March is International Women’s History Month, but as far as the film industry is concerned, why not celebrate their many accomplishments year-round? Depictions and treatment of female characters in Hollywood films, especially throughout 20th century films, has been inconsistent at best and demeaning at worst.

But with sensibilities and values always evolving, it is important to look back at the time capsules that the movies so often are to see how far we’ve come-and how far we still need to go. A survey of selected films and some trailblazing women in the film industry are the focus of an eye-opening overview of Hollywood’s regard for women in the 20th century and beyond.
