100 Years of Boston Comedy with Nick Zaino

The history of Boston Comedy is a slide presentation with videos of Boston comedians. Nick Zanio is a freelance arts journalist, and he has been covering comedy in Boston for 27 years, first for the Boston Phoenix, and since 2001, for the Boston Globe. Nick Zanio is also the creator and curator of Boston Comedy Radio, an online radio station playing over 100 years of recorded comedy with roots in or ties to Boston and New England.

This presentation covers live comedy in Boston from vaudeville to tiktok. Nick gives the audiences a sense of how many of America's funniest comedians have come from Boston, starting with vaudeville and radio sensation Fred Allen, right up to current stars like Sam Jay, Mike Birbiglia, Ziwe, and Chris Fleming.

Other comedians include Rob & Ray, Rusty Warren, Tom Lehrer, Bill Dana, Norm Crosby, Jane Curtin, Jay Leno, Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Lenny Clarke, Steve Sweeney, Gary Gulman, Janeane Garfalo, and Bobcat Goldthwait. The presentation includes audio and video clips followed by a Q&A session.
